Let's skip this pseudo-pathetic drivel from the Guardian aka 'ScottTrust', which pretends to side with google, to stir a pseudo-debate. Is it more likely, that after a merge between Twitter and Friendfeed, Google [Earth; = formerly Keynote Inc.] Inc. will take over *both companies anyway and possibly suggest to use related search engines like tweetvisor to integrate all [ro]bot systems and skip the old model. What we're furthermore beginning to notice here, is the typical dog- and pony show, which with google is keeping us busy since years, to distract from the bigger picture: Google Inc. is ready to become *World Company No.1 ; Google is occasionally linked to NASA, SAIC, Stanford University and CIA [= In-Q-Tel, which also officially sponsored Keynote Inc, google's main baby http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I... and most obviously another NASA front.] - You (edit | delete)
Historically google received their first external money from german Andy Bechtolsheim from SUN [aka Stanford University Network], who is also founding member of Carnegie Mellon, which is also instituted by the MIT. The close connection to Stanford University itself, suggests private military interests anyway, enrolled also between SGI and Sequoia Capital, with the grandfather of Silicon Valley, Donald T. "Don" Valentine. Most obviously, also both Twitter and Friendfeed had been created as front companies for Google ; Co-founder Evan Williams worked for google until 2004, to create Odeo, a podcasting company, with which help Twitter was created in April 2007. Two things: (1) I read the post on your blog, which has some discussion, but then decided to see if there was any discussion on FriendFeed. So the conversation is already disjointed, and most people won't bother to seek out the most active conversation; (2) In terms of data mining, you are still talking to early adopters in FF. Completely agree, Stay. Something about the PubSub model has allowed them to become more of a social network than Digg (maybe b/c the semi-personal nature of Tweets) and new can travel fast through the Twittersphere.
